West Land is French photographer Simon Nicoloso’s exploration of the vernacular landscapes of American West. This 88 page hardcover monograph measures 10.25 x 8.5″ (26×21.6 cm)* and features 77 plates, a foil stamped cover, and artist statements in English and French.

Growing up high in the French Alps, Simon became fascinated by the American West, with it’s vast open spaces and seemingly endless horizon. Drawing on his experience as an architect, his images construct ordered spaces from the diverse elements that make up the built environment. Here the romanic archetypes of the West give way to a banal, but timeless reality, as he examines the beauty of the insignificant, in the shadow of the picturesque.
