Artist statement:

New York is a city that changes its face every day. Old structures tend to disappear, replaced by new towers of metal and glass. Setting a red light in the doorway of these buildings brings them back to life, while signaling their danger of disappearance, threatening the very essence of the city’s architectural soul and its inhabitants.

Back in 2015 I started documenting these buildings as part of a gentrification study. I always wondered what would happen to these structures far into the future. A couple of years ago I photographed these buildings again after seven years. I am amazed how a place can change its form or shape but nature will always remain. This evolving change might show as signs of progress for some people; but the truth is that it’s changing the roots of these neighborhoods forever. I will continue this documentation closely.
